I came into the program with a mixture of curiosity and skepticism. What was this leadership course going to offer me that I hadn’t already seen in previous trainings? Can I take things away from this class that will translate into tangible skills I can use in my career? Beginning with the “Transform Yourself” module my questions were answered and I realized there was another way to approach thinking about leadership. The concept of starting with an understanding of who you are as an individual and as a leader was something I had not seen before and a powerful way to develop a unique leadership philosophy beginning at the core...Throughout the course, our coach frequently challenged us to think differently about a situation, slow down and ask questions, and don’t fall back into our old habits of “problem-solving” to move things forward. In this course, I learned that who I am, my background and my career experiences shape who I am as a leader and what I strive to be as a leader. Naming these pieces and having a structure for accountability helped me to adjust my approach and think about situations differently. What I will take away from this course is a framework for how to define my leadership approach.
