Get to know Lisa

I was most likely to get in trouble at school for not wanting to come in from outside, and for having a penchant for benign mischief. I was an avid learner, just not inclined to prove it.

My biggest life lesson has been the realization that everyone has a story, and that you can change the course of someone’s day (and even life) by extending small kindnesses, taking an interest, asking a question and listening with an open heart. What I’ve learned is that often, life’s challenges bind us together more firmly than life’s triumphs.

I’ve had a 20+ year career in higher education. My proudest professional accomplishment can’t be unbundled from the Biggest Life Lesson above. I remember stories, celebrate diversity and find joy in making connections. If a student feels that I care deeply about their past/present/future, which I do, that’s enough.
